Fits okay. But looks simply amazing. I put it on at least once a week and play with the kids and they love to put it on too. Very realistic looking

4Darth Vader MaskJul 26, 2006

This mask is very reallistic and the two pieces are perfect. I made a few adjustments to my mask, and now it is really cool. The price is good for a mask like this. There is no need for a really spiffy $[...] mask if there is something like this around. I like Amazon, it is a good place to find what you need. This is a good deal and I highly recommend it.

4Great toy.Oct 01, 2008

My daughter chose this helmet after considering a lot of alternatives. She absolutely loved it. Since it is a two piece helmet, she usually takes the mask off and spends the day with the top part on. She wanted one with voice change and recorded Darth Vader speech. However, after seeing those, this one is a much better choice both in price and use.

5Most impressiveDec 07, 2009

I had a REALLY crappy, really cheap, pieced-together, Darth Vader costume. But you know what? I looked AWESOME! thanks to this helmet. I wouldn't use it as a motorcycle helmet or anything, but its hard plastic, covers the entire head, and looks REAL! I used some $8 voice changer I got at Walgreens, a generic cape, and black, long sleeved cloths/dress shoes, and this helmet put it together quite nicely. The face mask Velcros on to the helmet and has a pretty sturdy grip. It's SLIGHTLY big for my head, but that's so it'll fit most peoples heads and its not really noticeable. Overall, for the price, I am very happy. Buy this product, because you don't have time for other mask's insolence.

4Excellent valueAug 20, 2011

If you are looking for an affordable Darth Vader mask for costuming then this is an excellent choice.

As others have pointed out, the plastic lenses are not of good optical quality. More on that in a minute.

I had one of the original Don Post masks and in some respects this new mask is actually better. For example, the original mask had a fairly rough interior and I had to wear a skull cap to keep it from scratching up my head. This one is quite smooth inside and more comfortable to wear. The silver parts on this mask are brighter. As far as the lenses go, they are both about the same. The biggest difference between the two masks is the price. The Don Post mask costs about $70 when I bought it in the 80's. Compare that to less than $25 for this one.

Now for the lenses. The lenses on this mask were quite easy to pop out. I took one over to the local flea market and found an inexpensive pair of sunglasses with a curve that matched closely enough, were a little larger in all directions and a good color. About an hour's effort with a Dremel and a cutting wheel, a little 5-minute epoxy and now I can see out of this mask just fine.

While that may be more effort than some want to put into this, if you are putting together a costume to actually wear for an event it's not much to do to have a much more wearable mask.
